The Browns head into their home stadium trying to save face after last week's embarrassing blowout, and they have a big challenge in front of them in doing so against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs (7-4) are trying to advance their chase of the AFC Wild Card spot, and behind the ever-productive Larry Johnson and return of veteran QB Trent Green, they stand a good chance to do so
Offensive Keys to Victory:
#1. Protect Charlie Frye! As Braylon Edwards quite vocally pointed out, the Browns QB often has one of the dirtiest jerseys on the team at the end of the game. In order for the offense to be productive, Charlie will need protection and time to make his decisions.
#2. Work the running game. The Browns offensive line needs to step up and get a push at the line of scrimmage so that Reuben Droughns and Jason Wright can have a chance to make plays.
Defensive Keys to Victory:
#1. Contain LJ! A pattern emerges: Run the ball well, win games. Stop the run on D, win games. It's almost that simple. Larry Johnson is the leading rusher in the league already with over 1200 yards.
#2. Keep Gonzo down. Tony Gonzales is probably one of the best tight ends of all time, and if he has a big day, it will be a long one for the Browns.
| Quarterback: |
 |
Trent Green is a veteran who's been there, done that. Coming back from a vicious concussion, he could still be a little foggy. Take advantage if you can! |
| Running Backs: |
 |
Larry Johnson leads the league in rushing so far, with over 1200 yards. He'll need to be contained to keep the game close |
| Wide Receivers: |
 |
There's been a focus in getting Joe Jurevicius more involved, which should really help on possession downs |
| Tight End: |
 |
Winslow's a beast, but so is Gonzo. Two of the best in the league facing off could make a very entertaining game |
| Offensive Line: |
 |
They're one of the best in the league, and their numbers back it up. |
| Defensive Line: |
 |
The Browns and the Chiefs do well at this area. No real standout to move either side ahead though. |
| Linebackers: |
 |
A young corps that does very well. They're learning on the fly, and doing a very good job. |
| Secondary: |
 |
The Browns are limping, and the Chiefs have a great veteran secondary. Frye will need to be very smart in his decisions. |
| Special Teams: |
 |
They continue to be one of the best in the league, and no one's telling them otherwise. |
